I've been working on several projects this past week but Elefante (or Florence as she is known) has made the most obvious progress so I thought I'd do a post just to share her. Florence will go in a basket with the cute little booties and a hat as a baby gift for some friends of ours - I can hardly wait to get it all finished and sent off. So far the body is done, and all 4 feet are attached:
I've given all of the feet a good tug just to make sure they can withstand a baby pulling at them, they seem really strong!!!! I have now started knitting on the trunk and head:Working on DPN's is completely new to me, but I'm definitely a convert - it's so much fun and it's not as difficult as I thought it would be!!! It was on my list of things to learn this half of the year and I've done it so I'm really pleased.
Once again I'm playing along with Ginny and Tami; go check out what everyone else is working on.

PS - there is a giveaway on my blog right now, so go leave a comment and you could win!!!
I love Elefante! Definitely have to try to make that at some point!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour! I used to be so afraid of DPNs, once I realised that I wouldn't poke my eye out, everything was fine :D
ReplyDeleteI think Florence is the cutest thing I have seen this morning!
ReplyDeleteOh Florence is looking great--I love the pink!I was a fraid of DPN's as well--then I knit a hat on falt needles and had to seam it--I converted easily :) Have a great day and happy knitting!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty much the most adorable little toy ever! Love it!
ReplyDeleteFlorence is gaining shape and one day will be a completed elephant :) Beautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteFlorence is really cute so far, and she doesn't even have a head yet! I'm looking forward to seeing her finished. :) DPN's are a mystery to me. I use my circulars and the magic loop technique for everything. Well done on learning a new skill! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! Well done on sewing it securely - I'm terrible at that.
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be so cute!!
ReplyDeleteAww he is going to be so adorable when he is done. XD
ReplyDeleteLooking great!
ReplyDeleteThose must be the cutest little feet I've ever seen! What a lucky baby to receive this terrific basket.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute elephant! Love the color too.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to see it done, it is already looking cute. I agree that DPN's aren't as hard as they seem, and you can make some really cool things!
ReplyDeleteSo cute. It's going to be darling all made up as a set with booties and a hat. I grew up knitting on DPNs so I actually prefer them to circulars - no twisty wire to fight with, and nothing to prevent the stitches from sliding smoothly! Looks very well done for your first crack at DPNs. I can't see any ladders!
ReplyDeleteSo sweeeeeet! :-)
ReplyDeletevery cute :) I love dpn's too - switch from my circulars to them and back again...
ReplyDeleteNice color for Elefante!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great baby gift it will be. Can't wait to see it all together.
ReplyDelete*squeal* - how adorable is she??? I love that you do her in all pink, she already looks so squishy and cute
ReplyDeleteoh that ellie looks like it's going to be SO cute!
