WIP and Yarn// WIP Wednesday

I can't believe this is the 2nd Wednesday of the year already........ I am getting organised to get going with my WIP's but my wife asked me to knit her a simple scarf - so I picked up a 10mm circular needle and 2 balls of cream aran yarn and got to work:
It's just simple garter stitch; 20 stitches wide and with the yarn held double. I'm loving how quickly this is knitting up - it will be a FO before I know it. Next I plan to work on my high plains drifter; I am so determined to get all of my current WIP's finished so I can start knitting a cardigan - any favourite cardigan patterns?

So yesterday I went shopping; a whole day spent in Edinburgh by myself and it was amazing. I bought lots of stuff including boots, a coat and some new socks (I love me some socks - and these ones have foxes on). Anyway I also went to K1 yarns and bought some beautiful yarn:

First of all I found this gorgeous skein; it's all in different thicknesses and I plan to knit a small shawlette and then hand dye it - so exciting:

I also bought these artesano skeings; the pink ones are 4-ply and I think the gold/yellow ones are DK - aren't they pretty? No specific plans for the as of yet but I'm very excited to make some:
As usual I am playing along with Tami and Ginny; I'm excited to see what you are all working on.

Accessories//Knit Stuff

Another friday goes by with NO finished objects - the blue sweater is so close to finished it's painful, but it will be done for next Friday so check in then. In the meantime I have a knit stuff post for you, sharing just some of my cute little knitting accessories. You all know how much I love bags, well I just happen to love pencil cases too, and when I spotted this one in a sale I had to have it:
And guess what? It happens to fit all of my accessories in perfectly, it was meant to be; obviously.
So what do I keep in this pencil case, firstly some small headed pins, stitch markers and several cable needles - I do have about 8 but you don't really need to see ALL of those:
Secondly my giant safety pins - again I have several, a row counter (the rest are on projects) and my cute purple pen although with patterns I prefer to use a pencil:
And lastly the real priorities my little scissors, a tape measure and some sewing needles - the things you REALLY need to knit or to crochet:
What accessories do you have? Do you like to have more than 1 of everything or are you happy with everything in singular? And of course what do you keep all of your accessories in? Remember if you share on your blog, make sure you link back to me so I can come by and have a look.

Needle Storage//Knit Stuff

I love needle storage, I want more and more of it but for the moment these are the 2 main places I keep my needles (except my circulars).

This needle box was my mum's, she gave me it several years ago with some needles that were hers and my gran's. I love it so much, just knowing that it's been passed down and it's been so loved. It is slightly worn, it's not in the best shape but I love that charm:
And all the needles that are too long for the needle box? They go in a whisky pot, I always had plans to alter this box BUT I kind of like it in it's natural state - it works well as a knitting box and I like the almost vintage quirk:
What do you keep your needles in? If you share on your blog please link back and let me know. I want some more needle storage, but I like something a little different - nothing plain and I'm not sure I want a fabric case either..... I like vintage looking, nice old things, it's fab.

Bags//Knit Stuff

I have to say I LOVE bags, I always have done so when I was searching for bags to keep my knitting in I wanted something that was a little bit of a bargain but pretty too. These are my knitting bags:

I got this one from poundland just last week, it's the perfect size for just one project, it's super cute and it was a bargain:
I found this cutie in a charity shop last week for just £3, it's a great size to pack in a knit or 2 for knit night - and it's got a wee pocket in the inside for my knitting pencil case:
This bag is great for a big project, or for big yarn. I picked it up in WHSmith a few weeks back and it's lovely - it's also got a nice sized handle:
This bag is my all time favourite, I got this in a charity shop in London for about £3, it's got 3 big sections and can hold tons. I sometimes take it to knit night with me, especially if I want to take several projects:
And lastly this is another project bag, it's been in my handbag storage for ages and I haven't used it - because it's so pretty. It's a lace bag from Malta, so I've had it since my holiday there in 2007, it's about time it got used:
So those are my knitting/project bags, I love them all and I can't wait to get some more. How many project bags do you have? Feel free to share this post on your blog and post about your own knit bags.
