So one of my challenges for year of projects was to knit more in public; alot of people in my area don't knit so it's nice to see a few people appreciating that someone does. So this past week I knit at a hospital appointment, I'm just knitting squares for my Come Josephine afghan, I got almost 3 done in the waiting room:
And I also knit at the beach, this was lots of fun; some people watched as they walked by and others just didn't bother at all. I find it interesting to see different reactions to knitting:
What have you done for year of projects this week? Have you passed any of your goals?
V xo
I've knit lots but none of it has been in public, I don't think I'd get much shopping put in my trolley if I were knitting to, I'd love to see the reactions as I'd say they are mixed and varied. Well done you.
ReplyDeleteI love knitting in public - I did it at the car dealers this week whilst waiting for the car to be fixed - I got a few odd looks but managed to get quite a bit of my sock knitted!
ReplyDeleteLook at you, knitting away in public! That is just so awesome! I have not been meeting my knitting or spinning goals lately, but sometimes life just runs away with you!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I find that besides other crocheters and knitters, elderly men are the most conversational about my projects in public. Inevitably, they have fond memories of a mother/aunt/grandmother who was always knitting or crocheting.
ReplyDeleteI always have knitting with me if I'm going to be in a waiting room! I find I'm much more patient if I feel I'm accomplishing something rather than just wasting time!
ReplyDeleteI knit in public frequently-- my sweetheart much prefers it to the two of us sitting at a table, both on our phones!
ReplyDeleteI love to KIP or CIP depending on what project I have. I love watching people's reactions as well. I have alot of waiting around in the afternoons for the boys and always have my hands busy doing something.
ReplyDeleteIf I could I would definitely crochet in public, it gets you talking to such interesting people! Usually I have my girls with me though and they aren't so patient with my hooking when they want my attention.
ReplyDeleteI love knitting in public. Its fun to see how people react or respond to it. XD
ReplyDeleteI always knit/crochet at appointments..Mostly the seniors are interested, seems kids under 10 have no idea what hooks are in my area...I always give them a bit to work on while waiting..keeps them quiet!
ReplyDeleteI don't go out in public much! LOL! But years ago when I took my parents to Mayo Clinic and had all their appointments we spent a lot of time in waiting rooms and I was working on a crocheted afghan. Every time it would start to be a "wait" my Dad would tell me to bring out the afghan as it seemed as soon as I got going on it they would call us in! LOL! I'm a newbie too although I get better every day...practice makes perfect or at least recognizable knitting! LOL! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteI love knitting in public and do it all the time. In fact if I happen to leave the house without something in hand I feel almost undressed. The other day though I left my knitting at the hair dresser...argh, had to make a trip back to get it. Cute picture.
ReplyDeleteI crochet when I'm waiting at an appointment or waiting for the bus. I guess in public I crochet while waiting! I get some sidelong glances, but usually smiles and "what are you making?".
ReplyDeleteIm not very good at knitting in public, but I find the best responses are from small children who have never seen knitting before, and are really interested
ReplyDeleteI really do not wait well, to the point that my husband carries yarn and needles in case i forget them. I have been known to knit in line at disney. It trips people out sometimes, but they wish they had something to do too.
