So since I came out of hospital back in September, I have barely done any knitting - to be honest doing anything has been really difficult. I have been seriously lacking in motivation and direction so when I went to see my consultant on Monday we had a good chat and made some goals!!!
My goals for the next 2 weeks are:
1. Buy a diary and write down what I do in a day, this should help me feel motivated. So yesterday we went and bought me a diary in paperchase, this is the one I chose:
2. Make christmas cakes! I have several to make as gifts for teachers and family, so I really need to get a shift on; I have found some really cute cake toppers in Lakeland so making the cakes means I get to go shopping.
And finally I needed to (start and) finish my Agnes hat; so I've made a start and have almost finished the ribbed band - I'm really pleased with myself and I really want to get it finished:
I have another appointment with my consultant in about 13 days time so I want to take with me my diary, photos of the cakes and my finished hat - writing it here is going to help me feel motivated also so I hope you don't mind!!!
I'm playing along with Tami and Ginny this week; hope you are all well and I'm looking forward to seeing what you are all working on this week.

Sorry you've been motivationless. It does seem to happen when you don't fee well doesn't it? I hope the diary works. And can't wait to see the hat. Feel Better.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon. Sometimes it is good to take a break from the usual routines, I look forward to hearing about the cake making :)

What wonderful and manageable goals. Keep feeling well & strong!
ReplyDeletemaybe a brand new project would be motivating? Love your new journal and I hope you write so much you run out of ink :)
ReplyDeleteYour journal is so cute! I hope you feel better and more motivated soon.
ReplyDeletejournaling and writing lists helps me to get motivated-- so I hope it helps you! Cute journal too!
ReplyDeleteah poor lamb, being hospitalized and unwell can take so much out of a person. it sounds like you are on the right track now, feeling better and with lots of ideas! yarnalong is a wonderful place to find motivation, it is such a lovely community of knitters, crocheters, crafters, who are always there to encourage and support. take good care dear!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon and having a diary with goals is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThe diary idea is great - I have to do this as I work from home, and if I don't sometimes I feel like I haven't achieved anything! It's good to look back and see that you actually did. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteReally cute diary! Good for you! I really struggle with motivation. There are so many things I want to do, but I often don't seem to get anything done. I have learned two things that have really helped me. I don't know if you will find them helpful or not, but I'll share anyway. 1. It's REALLY important to celebrate my successes, without saying "but I didn't...blah blah blah". Instead, just "Hey I did X. Good for me! Way to go! etc. Only by cheering myself on, do I seem to want to do more.
ReplyDelete2. I don't really have to be motivated (although it is lovely to be motivated.) Instead, I can just pick a real, physical task and do it. Then pick another. Repeat. Very empowering for me because I don't have to wait for motivation to show up. Just pick some task and do it. Then onto the next. So now when I feel stuck, I just do something, cheer myself on, and repeat. Makes me feel better.
If this isn't helpful, feel free to roll your eyes at me and virtually pat me on the head (there, there). Take care! I like your blog.
