And Released//Design

You might remember towards the end of last year I finished knitting one of my own designs, the Queen of Hearts Shawl:
I've done my very first test knitting; it went very well and my testers enjoyed the pattern. So I am pleased to announce that my shawl pattern is now available to purchase on Ravelry - at a usual price of £2.50; however I do have a promotion for the next week or so - you can purchase the pattern for just £1.25, by using the code Knit Nerd.

Although the store page does state a specific yarn, you can choose to use any you wish and knit to whatever size you want too. I think this shawl could work in multiple colours too - in colourwork blocks or stripes; there are options!!!

I have to say a huge thank you to the people who have supported me during the release of my first pattern - I'm truly grateful.

Queen of Hearts//Design

So this is not a FO for 2013; it's my last from 2012. I started this shawl in the summer but due to illness etc, I finished it at the end of December just in time for my Gran's birthday - she loves it, she's even worn it out!!!

I am really pleased with how this shawl turned out, I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino DK yarn - it was wonderful to work with, it's so gorgeous and smooshy. If you get a chance to use it - go for it, it's beautiful. Anyway's because I enjoyed working on this shawl so much I decided that I am going to release the pattern!!!
However firstly I need the pattern tested, so I've set up a post over on Ravelry - if you want to test it for me (I would be very grateful) please pop over and drop me a message. I'm really excited about this but nervous too and I need to know if my pattern reads well.
I will be back on Wednesday with updates on what I'm working on; it's still the never-ending scarf.

Green Grass of Spring Shawl//Design

This is my very first pattern that I made, and I decided (due to a few demands) that I would make it available on my blog - if you do a wee search on Ravelry you'll find it also. So here's the pattern:

Yarn - RYC Cotton Jeans in Jute or any other 4-ply yarn (you could knit this in a sports weight)
Needle - 6.5mm circulars and straights

1. Cast on 1 stitch on straight needles, knit 1.
2. Increase 1 at beginning of row, purl to last stitch, increase 1. This
    will be your basic pattern.
3. Every odd row will be a knit row, and every even row will be a purl row.
4. On row 11 (knit row), knit 5, *sl1 k1 *carry on in this way to last 5 stitches, k5
5. Purl row 12 and carry on
5. Every 10 rows - 11, 21, 31 etc follow the instruction 4.
When my scarf started to get a little big, I swapped to circular needles and carried on. You can make this as big or small as you want - just get a good size to wrap around your neck.
Cast off loosely and enjoy your new scarf.
Thanks so much for taking a look at my new pattern, I hope you have enjoyed it - if you have any questions feel free to contact me as knittingv on Ravelry or email me vicki.yelland-browning@hotmail.co.uk
